Dixon Street Apartments
The conversion of an automotive warehouse was one of the early projects re-positioning Brisbane’s suburban industrialised riverfront to residential use.
Overview
This conversion of an automotive warehouse was one of the early projects re-positioning Brisbane’s suburban industrialised riverfront to residential use.The brick perimeter walls and apertures of the shed are retained. The asbestos clad roof was removed and then four attached houses positioned to the interior.
Address is provided by a new street within the perimeter parallel to the park, creating an internalised subdivision layout.
This project continues research by the practice into the re-use of existing redundant structures, creating a new type and pattern of dwelling within the city fringe.
